Maths this week.

During our Maths lessons this week we shall be exploring comparing two sets and find the difference in a range of contexts, using the language of ‘more, less, fewer’ in order to work out the ‘difference’. We shall also be learning about when seasons change and during which months special occasions happen, it maybe a religious festival, birthday or special date which has personal meaning. Try practicing the days of the week and months of the year at home?

Ask your child, what days do they attend school? Which days do they partake in a club or activity outside? ‘I have swimming lessons on a Friday, on Saturdays I play football’. We will be looking at ordering the days of the week and also answering such questions as ‘if today is Tuesday what day will tomorrow be? If today is Monday what day was yesterday?’ Try and practise this at home.

Along with our seasonal learning, we will also be looking at comparing two sets and comparing the difference. Take a look at some of the ways we can compare two sets –

Take a look at these examples – explain how you can find out the answers to a grown up.

Maybe try and create your own ‘find the difference’ questions – remember to capture any home learning via photographs and upload into Tapestry.
