LO: To find fractions of quantities
LO: To begin to explore equivalent fractions
Today we were amazing Mathematicians! We used the vocabulary denominator, numerator and equal groups to explore what equivalent meant. We explored that equivalent means equal, the same and used bar models to represent equivalent fractions. We were able to explain our working using words, pictures and some of us, numbers too!

We explored the size of fractions too, we were intrigued to find out that actually the larger the denominator, the smaller the fraction! We used bar models to explore this, but also looked at a birthday cake, we would rather have 1/2 than 1/12!
