Hello, Phase One – this week in our Maths lessons, Reception pupils will be exploring the concept of groupings objects and items into groups of pairs. They will also be focusing on the skills of sharing out objects equally. We will be using star words where each child will be encouraged to use them in full sentences throughout their lessons – try to use these at home as much as you can.

Looking at the images below see if you and your child can count how many pairs of limbs the animals have and then how many they have altogether. ‘The cat has 2 pairs of paws, altogether the cat has 4 paws.’


Year Ones this week will be investigating fractions, beginning with halves and quarters. We aimed to understand the concepts of sharing equally between two and four.
