Today we split our lesson into two parts – we first thought about measuring length. We decided that we needed a standard measurement of length to measure accurately. We looked at metre sticks and estimated (a clever guess) to show how long or short objects around the classroom were. We estimated longer, shorter or the same length as 1m – we then moved to 2m.
We went on a metre hunt around school, estimating and measuring objects to see if they were longer, shorter or the same length as 1m. We used the language short, shorter, shortest, long, longer and longest – we also talked about the suffix on each word!
We also spent time with Miss Morrison reviewing and recapping addition and subtraction with exchanging. We learnt from our mistakes and consolidated tens and ones knowledge.
