This week during our maths lessons, Phase One will be exploring all the ways in which we can measure.
We shall be looking at how we can measure the length of something, including estimating when comparing against another object. Try comparing when at home together; which is the tallest out of the table or the chair? Guess how many spoons you may need, to see how long your teddy is? We will be looking capacities and weights, using weighing scales to see if they will balance if objects are the same or different.
Again, you can try this home, guess which will be heavier out of a tin of beans and an apple? Which is lighter when looking at a toothbrush and the toothpaste?
Upload your pictures onto Tapestry so can see what you can have found and how you have been measuring at home.
Here are some pictures below, see if you can use the language of ’empty, full, nearly full, or nearly empty’ when describing each image.

Lastly, why not find out how long you are? Lie on the floor and see if you are 8 shoes long or possibly 10 forks long, maybe you are more or less than 8? Do you have a grown-up that is longer than 10 books in length? Make sure to capture this by taking a photo and uploading them onto Tapestry. We cannot wait to see them!
