Non-standard measure. What is that? You can measure length using rulers and tape measures but, before this, people used things such as hands! Did you know, horses are still measured in hands? To start us off, we had a selection of items we could use to measure with. It was agreed that this was not very reliable. So, out came the metre rulers and we had to work together to find things that were a metre long or tall / less than and more than a metre.

Finding things smaller and longer than a metre was much easier than finding things that were exactly 1 metre.
