Home Learning – Wednesday 21st February 2024
This Wednesday afternoon we would like you to complete some of the following tasks.
When you complete a task from the list below, you should upload it to your portfolio on your dojo account or you can bring in anything completed on paper into school tomorrow.
Reading:
Can I remind parents and children that we expect three signatures a week from parents in your child’s reading record to show that children have read at home either to a parent, a sibling or independently.
Book Review
If you have read a good book recently and you’d like to recommend it to others, write a book review which we can share with the rest of Westgate.
Maths:
To support your child’s learning please use the following links. All of Westgate have been learning about coordinates, reflection and translation. Please use the link below to reflect on your understanding of coordinates: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zgthvcw
Please use TTRS to practice your times tables: https://www.ttrockstars.com/login
You can also use arithmequiz 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 to practice a variety of arithmetic style questions to improve your fluency. Please focus on adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions.

World Book Day Competition 21/02/24 – 05/03/24
Every child will be given a paper plate to create their favourite book character on. You should endeavour to use resources you have at home, which may be different materials, paints or crayons/colours etc. This competition will start today and the deadline is Tuesday 5th March, to allow us time to judge the winner and display them in the hall on World Book Day (Thursday 7th March). Prizes are on offer, one per phase, and will be presented in the assembly on WBD.
Also, ahead of World Book Day we are asking children to take photos of themselves “wild reading” (reading in strange places!). These photos will be displayed alongside the paper plate characters in our school hall. So please send your photos to us on Class DoJo.
Thank you for your cooperation,
Miss Taylor and Miss Southam
