Quelle heure est-il ?

Westgate have been putting their knowledge of French numbers to use this week by learning to tell the time for o’clock and half past times. They learned the words for hour (heure) and half past (et demie) in order to be able to answer the question ‘Quelle heure est-il?’ – What time is it?

Test them out on these times before checking the answers in the final image.

Allons aux magasins.

Westgate practised writing (along with some maths!) in French this week using the vocabulary from the last lesson to write the cost of something and the calculated change from a given amount.

They then used phrases and words from throughout the unit to orally recap how to go shopping, have a polite conversation with the shopkeeper, find out the cost of a product and buy it.

C’est combien ?

Westgate worked really hard in French today, using their language and maths brains to solve French money problems.

Having been introduced to the French monetary system, they went ‘shopping’ and worked out which coins and notes they could use to buy different items using the exact money. Next week, they will be able to calculate the change due from a large note.

Year 4 worked really hard in French today, using their language and maths brains to solve French money problems.

Having been introduced to the French monetary system, they went ‘shopping’ and worked out how much change to give from a Euro coin or note for the items bought.

Tous les nombres jusqu’à 100

In today’s French lesson, Year 4 have been using their knowledge of counting in tens to work out how to compose all the numbers to 100.

They practised working out these numbers by challenging each other in pairs.

They were able to work out how to write any number between zero and one hundred in French, which needed quite a lot of mathematical brain power as well as language ability. Amazing work Year 4!
