Home Learning Wednesday 25th October

For this week’s learning, we will be recapping some of our learning this term as well as looking towards to our new learning after half term ‘Who are we?’

Please create a timeline of your life, start with date of birth and maybe some important milestones, maybe when you began to walk, talk, first birthday, holiday, celebrations, first day if nursery or school, finishing your timeline up until today. It can include photos and pictures. Feel free to bring it in to school or take photos and upload onto Class Dojo.

As it is Half term, feel free to complete our half term challenge – select as many or as little of the challenges to finish. Bring in evidence or take photos and share with your child’s Key Worker.

Next, do not forget to read your school books and possibly more! Read and share books from home together or visit the local library to borrow free books.

Have a happy and safe half term break, we look forward to seeing you all back on Monday 6th November.

This term Westgate Phase are learning about relationships online. This week we have been exploring respect for others as well as self-respect online. Create a DO’S/DON’TS list for supporting friends online – e.g. DO listen to their feelings, DON’T make it worse by being mean to whoever upset them.

D.T. – Diet, Nutrition and Hygiene.
This week in D.T. we have learnt about the eat-well plate and balanced diets. Think about the meals you have had so far this week. Can you identify which food groups each food is in? What carbohydrates, proteins, fibres and fats have you eaten this week so far? Make a list of the foods you have eaten and put them into the different food groups.

Geography – Natural Resources
This week we have been learning about where natural resources occur in the world and what this means for that country’s economic growth, Saudi Arabia and oil for example. A lot of the resources we learnt about were from South America and the Middle East. Research what natural resources come from countries in Europe.

Science – Animals, including Humans.
This week we are learning about body parts and how humans have evolved over time. Imagine we are in the year 4023… Will humans be taller? Will our hands be bigger or smaller? Why? Think about how technology is advancing and draw a picture of what humans might be like in 2000 years time.

Wednesday Home Learning – 05/07/23

Home Learning – Wednesday 5th July 2023

This Wednesday afternoon we would like you to complete some of the following tasks.

If you complete a task, you should upload it to your portfolio on your dojo account or you can bring in anything completed on paper into school tomorrow.

Reading:

Can I remind parents and children that we expect three signatures a week from parents in your child’s reading record to show that children have read at home either to a parent, a sibling or independently. You can still add your read for good books to track my read using the website below:

https://trackmyread.org/school/st-pauls-cofe-primary-school-912126

Literacy:

Create two characters, one from a modern society and one from the past or future. You should make sure your characters are very different so that when they meet through a portal they seem alien to one another. Think about what they would say to each other. How would they introduce themselves, what interesting fact would they share and how would they feel? Draw the characters and describe them using adjectives. Then, create the dialogue these characters would have between each other. Don’t forget your inverted commas and correct punctuation. Remember to use interesting speech words (not just said)!

Art:

Research artist Emma Howell (who is actually from Gloucester). I have shared some of her art on this post to inspire you.

Can you create a colouring or painting like Emma? You could use materials or technology to create the artwork too. Be creative!

Maths:

Please use TTRS to practice your times tables: https://www.ttrockstars.com/login

You can also use arithmequiz 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 to practice a variety of arithmetic style questions to improve your fluency.

Jigsaw

It’s almost time for us to move on to new schools (year 6) and new classes (year 5). Look back at the year you have had and think about the following questions:

What are you most proud of from this year?
What have you learnt that has helped you this year?
What are you looking forward to next year?
What do you want to achieve next year?

You could present this as a drawing or just answer the questions in sentences.

Science

Light… where does it come from? When was electricity invented and who invented the lightbulb? Research into electricity and the lightbulb. You could create a poster, leaflet or fact file about electricity or the lightbulb.

Music:

Year 6, don’t forget to practise the songs for the leaver’s service:
