This Wednesday afternoon we would like you to complete some of the following tasks.

Reading:

Book Review
If you have read a good book recently and you’d like to recommend it to others, write a book review which we can share with the rest of Westgate.

Easter
How does the Easter story show us compassion? How does Jesus show his love for his disciples and his people through the Easter story? You could create a story map, write some ideas on a mind map or create a poster to explain how the Easter story shows compassion.

Easter Break Ideas
You could complete some of the following ideas over the two week break, if you do, please send us a photo on DoJo!

  • Make an Easter Card or Picture
  • Organise and take part in an Easter egg hunt
  • Write a prayer about Easter
  • Write a poem or song about Easter
  • Take a photo of Spring (this could be anything that you think represents Spring).

History – Power and Conflict: The Gunpowder Plot
This week we have been learning about the Gunpowder Plot, how it began, what happened and how it ended. Create a drawing or sketch to show one of the events in the story of the Gunpowder plot.

Internet Safety – Online Relationships
This week we have been learning about how to create a positive online profile. Create a poster or a leaflet giving advice on how to create a safe and positive online profile.

Value – Service
This term our Value is Service. What does it mean to serve someone? How do Christian’s show God that they serve him? How do you serve your friends and family? Why is this important?

Let’s Get Talking!
Next week is Anti-Bullying Week and Children in Need, spend some time talking to your families about how you are feeling. How was your day? What was the best part? What did you find difficult today? What are you looking forward to tomorrow?

Science:
This week we have been learning about the digestive system. Create a leaflet explaining to Eastgate phase how their digestive system works (as they are year 1 and 2 you may need to use diagrams and explain tricky words)

The children have been thinking about creating their own app which could create a positive online community – please discuss this at home.

D.T. – Diet, Nutrition and Hygiene.
This week we have learned about where food comes from and the seasonality of different crops. Research a crop and explore how it gets from farm to fork (from growing in another country to your plate at home).

Value – Generosity
It’s almost time for harvest where we donate and give food to those less fortunate than us. Don’t forget to bring in a food donation for harvest. You could write about the importance of harvest and how you feel when you donate food to others.
