Internet Safety – Health and Wellbeing
Please use the questions below to spark conversations at home surrounding internet safety, health and well-being:

  • How much time do you spend online in one day? In a week?
  • What is a healthy ‘digital’ balance?
  • Do you think that people can be pressured into behaving differently online than offline?
  • How can you balance your online life?
  • Can your online experience ever stop being ‘fun and enjoyable’?

History
What is the digital revolution? How has it impacted the way we live today? Complete some research and present it however you choose to inform the rest of Westgate about the Digital Revolution.

World Book Day
Tomorrow is World Book Day, which you are welcome to come to school dressed as a book character or in your pyjamas. We will focus on a book called Flooded and spend time discussing books we enjoy. You could create a poster about your favourite book or the character you are coming to school as.

Thank you for your cooperation,

Christmas Fair

As part of our enterprise learning from Spring term last year, the children have continued this by creating items to sell at our Christmas fair. We had a budget of £40 and we made snowmen on a stick which we sold for 50p each. We made over 200 snowmen and decided to make some vegan to cater for all customers. One of our classmates also made snowmen hamma bead decorations to sell on the day. We had a great evening and made a total of £30 profit which is amazing! Well done Westgate Water!

Christmas Extravaganza Enterprise!

Next week we have our Christmas Extravaganza! You are welcome to join us in the hall to explore the stalls, cakes, tea, santa’s grotto and much more!

In preparation for this, the children have taken part in an enterprise. We were set a budget to buy resources and then make something to be sold at the fayre. The children have worked so hard creating the products and signs to tell people what we have for sale.

Next week we will look at the money we have made and use subtraction to find out our profit.

Please come and support us in raising the most money through our sales! We look forward to seeing you at such an exciting event 🙂

Home Learning Wednesday 25th October

For this week’s learning, we will be recapping some of our learning this term as well as looking towards to our new learning after half term ‘Who are we?’

Please create a timeline of your life, start with date of birth and maybe some important milestones, maybe when you began to walk, talk, first birthday, holiday, celebrations, first day if nursery or school, finishing your timeline up until today. It can include photos and pictures. Feel free to bring it in to school or take photos and upload onto Class Dojo.

As it is Half term, feel free to complete our half term challenge – select as many or as little of the challenges to finish. Bring in evidence or take photos and share with your child’s Key Worker.

Next, do not forget to read your school books and possibly more! Read and share books from home together or visit the local library to borrow free books.

Have a happy and safe half term break, we look forward to seeing you all back on Monday 6th November.
