Group 3 maths

Today, the children in group 3 extended their learning of fractions, and began to recognise non unit fractions. The children were given Cuisenaire rods to prove or disprove statements about non unit fractions. The children have become more confident in recognising and identifying non unit fractions.

Group 3 maths: Roman Numerals

The children in group 3 learnt and can now count in Roman Numerals. The children learnt a catchy song to help them remember what they have learnt today. Take a watch below. The children then applied what they have learnt to clocks. The children were tasked to tell the time, using Roman Numerals. With perseverance and determination, group 3 were able to succeed.

Group 3 Maths: Word Problems

The children have worked really hard over the last 3 weeks, investigating different strategies to solve multiplication and division problems. The children were tasked to match the corresponding bar model to the word problem and use it to solve the questions. It was very interesting watching the children work, using a range of strategies, chosen by them.

Group 3 maths meeting

Today was the return of money in group three. The children were tasked to identify the actual value of the purse and work out which coins needed to be taken out to match the intended value of the purse. The children did extremely well recognising coins and used their existing knowledge of money and addition and subtraction to solve the problems.

Perimeter and Area

This week, Year 6 have been exploring how to calculate perimeter and area.

We have even started to look at compound rectilinear shapes to extend our learning!

Group 3 Maths

This week, the children in group 3 learnt how to multiply 2 digit numbers by 2,3,4 or 5 with and without regrouping. The children were able to display their understanding verbally and written down. Knowledge of times tables and partitioning were shown by all children in group 3, showing perseverance and willingness to learn.
